CavsCorner Video: Austin Nichols

A former five-star recruit who was his league's rookie of the year during his freshman season at Memphis, Austin Nichols will sit out this season at UVa per NCAA transfer rules but that doesn't mean he's not already making strides.

In this video interview, he talks about picking Virginia, adjusting to live in Charlottesville both on and off the court, how he's already seen himself change both in terms of his game and in terms of his body, why he knew UVa was the right place for him, what it's like to play for Tony Bennett, and how he's managing the reality of not being able to play until next year.

Dowling

Sounds like he is not redshirting.

His family and HS coaches want him to redshirt but he trusts in London.

I have no idea why and the kid is just not going to play --- so why not do what is best for him and redshirt him????

CavsCorner Video: Isaiah Wilkins

After a solid first year at UVa last season, sophomore forward Isaiah Wilkins has conitnued to develop physically and he's seeing that work have a dramatic impact on his game.

In this video interview, he talks about the changes he's seen, how that has impacted his comfort level on the floor, how this preseason differs from last year's, his role in replacing former All-ACC defender Darion Atkins, where he feels like he's improved, what he thinks of the Wahoos potentially playing faster at times, and how the team keeps the noise and expecations from the outside from getting in their heads.

Coaches and Coordinators on the rise from ESPN

Most of these guys have been listed on this board. If Uva can't get a solid hire this time around we may be doomed forever. From this list

Herman ( Never coming here)
Brohm ( I think we could get him, would help QB's I bet)
Briles ( So what his dad as an a-hole, kid knows offense)
Fuente ( Might be too big for this job now)
Rhule ( Not sure I trust someone from Temple)
Campbell ( Done a great job at Toledo, not my first choice, but would be happy with him)

Durkin( Not leaving Michigan after one year, but he can coach defense and have no worries about him bringing in a staff that on offense would play power football the right way. He is a future star whenever he becomes HC)

Coaches on the rise
1. Justin Fuente, Memphis

2. Matt Rhule, Temple

3. Matt Campbell, Toledo

4. Herman

5. Jeff Brohm, Western Kentucky

Heads up...

Just wanted to let you guys know there won't be a War Room tomorrow. Instead, we'll have the UVa/UNC preview first thing and then hoops content later in the day. Likely going with our interview with Austin Nichols. We'll start the other couple of two-part coach features next week.

UVA UNC odds

Heels favored by 17 - 18 the lowest being 11. Matt is going to have to have a great game, hit some deep balls to loosen things up. I was surprised to see that UNC is giving up 213 yds pg rushing, can UVA get 180 to 200?, if so then this could be a close one. While I do not feel good about this game, I have a hunch that Thorpe may have a big game.

Anyone know how hard is it to scalp tickets at UNC ?

Kudos to Smoke

Way to not hang your head after that fumble and balling out when we needed you the most.

OL isn't great, but he is becoming a better football player just going north-south without dancing (kudos to Beatty), but also we have guys that could easily take carries from him, but he keeps being a weapon for us.
