CavsCorner Video: David Dean

Team captain David Dean is drawing a lot of attention in his senior season as the defensive tackle is one of UVa's best in the trenches.

In this video interview, he talks about the play of the D-line so far this year, their need to pressure the quarterback and force takeaways, the excitement for Friday night's game against Boise State, how the gameplan is impacted by which QB the Broncos start, how he spends his time when kickoff is later in the day, if this game is a "turning point" for the Cavaliers, and how the mantra "If you reach, you're wrong" has been stressed to the defense after poor tackling against W&M.

When was the last time you felt good about our offensive weapons?

I would have to go back to the early Groh days. This group we have now with Johns, Smoke, Reid, OZ, CS, and Thorpe coming back is scary if we don't go into running conservative mode. We might have to score 30 to win most games and I think this group can if the playbook is opened up and you let Johns just do his thing. No more Lambert talk. He is in the right system at UGA, we have the right QB for this. Now just go show Boise State who has the better offense.

Can we trade Oliver for London

Let's face it. London is in way over his head and it seems like he hasn't improved at all since being hired.

That being said, there should be room at a University with our size and ethos for a person like him. He is great with the athletes and their families. He is great with the high school coaches. He believes in doing the right thing, and preaches that to his athletes and lives his life that way. He puts the right emphasis on academics and getting a degree. He seems to be a genuinely good person who wants to help the athletes during their time here, as well as keeping them prepared for life after football.

I think that focus and those talents are valuable, even as a head football coach, but unfortunately, they are not enough in a major college program.

So my question is, "Is there a role somewhere in the athletic program that could give him the opportunity to impact an even greater range of athletes, while showing him we value what he does bring to the table?"

I certainly wouldn't want that trade, I really want Oliver fired. The Oliver reference was TIC because he has such a miserable impact on UVA football, Maybe a new position would be needed.
