Four-star F Cofie talks UVa official visit, decision timeline

Fresh off his OV to UVa this past weekend, four-star forward Jacob Cofie talked to @HoustonWilson about his time in Charlottesville, what stood out to him about the staff and players, and when he’d like to make his decision.

USA basketball team was favored to win the gold and left with nothing. Lost in overtime to Canada who took the bronze. USA lost to 3 foreign teams!

Germany wrapped up an undefeated World Cup by topping Serbia, 83-77, in Sunday’s gold medal game. Team USA, which had been favored to win the gold, left without a medal after falling to Canada in an overtime thriller in the bronze medal contest.

First off Mark Few stinks as a coach in this arena. He lost to several inferior teams way back coaching team USA in the Pan Am games that had Brogdon on it. Steve Kerr was also coaching this squad.

USA players are not the same players we had representing 10 or 20 or 40 years ago. Bird, Magic, Jordan, Robinson, Barkley, Wilkins were all gym rats that would not settle for subpar play especially in these games.

The days these guys just show up and win are over. The foreign players are now passing up the US players for alot of reasons; more heart, drive and more testosterone.

Quick moment of your time

Now that the team is playing games again, inevitably we've got folks posting stuff they know they shouldn't so I'm going to do what I do basically every year and share a disclaimer:

Mute people you don't want to hear from.

Don't respond to people you don't like.

Don't attack anyone, including calling specific people out about literally anything other than their points (even if so and so did it first; you're an adult not a 3rd grader).

Talk about UVa sports, not each other.

And if you don't like any of this or anything else around here, feel free to take your business elsewhere. I genuinely mean it. If you're unhappy, there are plenty of places where you can yell at folks. This isn't going to be one of them.

There's potential for this being another long football season and anybody who pays money to be here shouldn't have to deal with people acting a fool while their team is playing like crap.

Talk. About. UVa. Sports.

Leave the rest out of it or get gone. Your call.

Thanks for your time.

JMU/UVa game thread...

Greetings from a picturesque Scott Stadium where James Madison and UVa will kick things off in about and hour and 20 minutes. As a reminder, the pre-game ceremony to honor the lives of Lavel Davis, Devin Chandler, and D'Sean Perry will start at 11:30 and is being streamed on VirginiaSports.com.

I'll be back with notes and updates soon.

As always, have at it folks...

Jahvon Quinerly

Just saw that he has signed with Memphis who we play in Memphis on Dec 19. He is well traveled but still pretty talented. The Memphis roster of 14 has 2 holdovers (one of which is Coach Penny Hardaway’s son), 4 class of 23 recruits and 8 transfers. Lots of individual talent and alphas in that bunch, but Memphis has been in that situation before without significant success. Melding the talent with the egos and producing a team is a challenge. I think by December that Tony will have a well oiled team in place and can get us a W.

Defense

The defense in my opinion was by far the most disappointing aspect of this game. The biggest strength of this team going into this season was supposed to be the strength and depth of the d-line. They were manhandled. No pass rush, and we’re gashed up the middle on the run. The secondary wasn’t much better. Receivers were wide open all day. I would have bet a lot of money 35 points would have won this game!

Great to see Gertrude in the clip (as I believe he had been held out of scrimmages initially). I always look forward to every new season, but really am excited for this season to start with so much change in the program not just with new players coming in, but also with returning players in much more elevated roles (and of course no Clark for this first time since Beekman has been here to see him finally be able to run the team).

Preview: UVa set to host JMU tomorrow at noon
