Florida State transfer Jalen Warley is currently visiting Virginia, he tells me.

Despite not having an offer yet, UVa is in a good spot if they choose to eventually offer 2025 WR Dillon Newton-Short. Talent nor production will be a problem here, Cavaliers are waiting to see his grades at the end of the school year I believe.

Before the calendar turns to May, @justin ferber takes a look at a few key storylines from UVa’s 2025 recruiting class to date and its success thus far.

we are almost to May and don't have any commitments yet from any transfers (though I guess Perry would still be a HS recruit, but effectively his recruitment is like a transfer). Going back to 2018 (Key's year) we have had all of our transfers committed and enrolled by this point and so far this year we have had one post player visit (Jefferson) who committed elsewhere, another one (Okani) who was supposed to visit, but never did and the two combo guards Perry and Mahaney visit. We also have Amos arriving today. That is it as far as I am aware. It seems we are in a good spot with Amos and things sounded positive with both Perry and Mahaney, but if one or both don't commit what is plan B? I know every year is different and there are still options out there, but even with so much available playing time to be offered to a post player and a point/combo guard we seem to be having trouble getting players we are targeting. Hopefully Perry and Mahaney make their decisions soon so that if we are not their choice then Bennett can move on.

Kudos to Coach Hardin! First ranking in…forever. In the mid-90’s the softball team was ranked in the top 25. Not sure they’ve achieved a ranking since then. They won 50 games at the beginning of the century and they made the ncaa tourney in 2010 but not sure if they were ever ranked those years.
Anyway, they have 5 home games over the next week (three against a last place NC State) so stop by and cheer them on if you live nearby.

One of a bevy of recent UVa commits, three-star in-state RB Xay Davis talked to @Dylan Callaghan-Croley about what went into his decision to pick the Wahoos.

With a week ahead with no games, I decided to look at who will likely be part of the team next year. First of all, I wanted to know who will definitely be gone and who will likely be gone from the 2024 team. The seniors and grad students include Coady, Ference, Savino, Schauer, Tonas, and Whalen. In addition, the team had a number of third years who might leave the team for several reasons - drafted by MLB, transfer to another program, or retire from college baseball. This list includes Anderson, Barker, Buchanan, Hungate, Kampschrar, O'Ferrall, Saucke, Stephan, and Woolfolk. Some of these will definitely leave, but our prospects will certainly be better if several of them decide to return. Second years usually return except for those who decide to transfer. These aare Blanco, Didawick, Godbout, Hanson, Hodges, Jaxel, McKay, O'Connor, Osinski, and Teel. The first years are Augustin, Becker, Beruvides, Buchanan, Ford, Gialluisi, Head, Menk, Moore, Oschell, and Perrotta.
Lastly, there are 14 high school seniors who have committed to Virginia. These are Trey Alford RHP, Caleb Bonemer SS, Will Broderick C, Luke Dickerson SS, Aiden Harris 3B, Chone James C, William Kirk LHP, Bryce Message RHP, James Nunnallee OF, Drew Prozny 2B, Jackson Sirois SS, Isaac Vanderwoude SS, Tomas Villanova LHP, and Michael Yeaager RHP. Of these Bonemer and Harris are likely to be selected in the MLB draft, and others could be drafted. If there are not numerous unexpected departures, Virginia should field another very competent team in 2025.

With the portal closed, I figured it would be good to have a place to keep track of departures, offers and commits.

Can someone explain to me where The Sabre Society fits in with the VAF vs Cav Futures (NIL) vs UVA athletics?

I don’t get it? Just give to VAF or Cav Futures or UVA. Why the added layer? Feel like I am missing something.

Stephan led the offense with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 3 RBI. Godbout was one of four Hoos with 2 hits; he also had a home run and 3 RBI. Anderson, Ford, and Didawick each had 2 hits. Virginia scored 1, 2, 4, and 2 runs in the first four innings before scoring the game-ending run in the 7th inning.
Blanco started on the mound and pitched 3-hit ball over five innings. Augustin pitched the final two innings without allowing a baserunner. This was a nice way to go into exam break.

Saw that Davis confirmed he's returning to UNC next year. There will still be one-and-dones but it's more confirmation that the one-and-done era is over. If you're a second round or low first round pick it's more lucrative to stay in college and rake in the NIL money...especially at a place like UNC. And if you're not at a place like that you can just transfer to one and wait another year to sign a league minimum contract and fight for minutes in G league games.

Five-star forward Bryson Tiller, No. 6 overall in 2025, talked to @HoustonWilson about the latest in his recruitment as UVa and others continue to jostle for position.

Four home runs by Virginia helped the Hoos overcome a grand slam by VCU. Virginia got started in the 1st inning when Saucke doubled, and Ford reached on an error, Ference hit a homer over the left field fence for a 3-0 lead. The Hoos added another run in the 3rd when Ford doubled and came home on a single by Anderson. The lead went to 6-0 in the 6th. Hanson led off with a home run; O'Ferrall followed with a single and scored on a double by Saucke. VCU had 1 hit in each of the first five innings but could not score. Woodfolk came in to pitch in the 6th and got all three batters out. Virginia added another run in the 7th on Godbout's solo home run. Woodfolk loaded the bases on a single and two walks before he gave up a grand slam home run. Virginia scored the final run in the top of the 9th on a home run by Didawick. Teel pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed i hit and 0 runs

UVa gets their second commit of the week, landing Xay Davis after he was on Grounds for the spring game. The Collegiate School star was an all-state player last year.

It was the top of the 7th inning with Clemson at bat with one runner on base in a game that Clemson was winning 15 - 7. The Louisville pitcher threw behind the batter, who was obviously not pleased. The pitcher was not ejected and apparently not given a warning. On the very next pitch, the batter hit a deep home run to center field. As he crossed home plate, the home plate umpire ejected him for flipping his bat in the general direction of the Cardinal dugout. Quite naturally, the Clemson manager engaged the umpire in a polite discussion as to the reason for the ejection. I assumed that he was asking if it was for merely flipping the bat, or flipping the bat in the direction of the dugout, which was on the first base side, or if the umpire felt that the flip was woefully short of the dugout.
As it happened, the home run gave Clemson a 17 - 7 lead, and when Louisville failed to score in the bottom of the inning, Clemson won the mercy rule game.

Hopefully Aiden Mahaney, who was reported between Virginia and Kentucky. Sees a better opportunity at Virginia. Kentucky has now signed
2 guards for this coming year, including the young man from Oklahoma from the portal this weekend.

UVa will host Washington State on 9/27/2025 and make the trip out to Pullman on 9/13/2031. The Hoos have one open non-conference slot remaining for 2025. Home games against Coastal Carolina on 8/30/25 and William & Mary on 9/13/2025 had already been announced.
