Deja vu All Over Again

I said yesterday I was headed to the game with a sense of trepidation. Well, I should have stayed home. Absolute domination by a mediocre team over a team that simply cannot win. Tech owns us. We left at the half and never regretted it. I have never done that before, but we were clearly not competitive. Did not see that coming.

Women’s BBall Vs Defending NCAA Champs LSU Sat @ 5

The women play #7 ranked and defending national champions LSU tomorrow at 5 at the Cayman Islands Tourney. LSU will be without their superstar Angel Reese, who has been suspended, Kateri Poole, and Sa’Myah Smith, who was injured early in the opening game of the tournament. The Hoos have a nice chance for an upset against that roster. Unfortunately, it appears the only way to watch the game is on FloHoops - whatever that is.

Preview: UVa set to close out its season tomorrow against VT

Preview: With UVa set to host Virginia Tech tomorrow afternoon to close out its 2023 season, @BigGriff has our breakdown of this year’s matchup for the Commonwealth Cup between the Hokies and Hoos.

New Washington Owners don't have a hair if they don't fire Rivera and his inept staff; also flush entire O line and Secondary that are all Busts/Crap!

Rivera needs to go and shows he has ZERO eye for First and Second round talent in St. Juste, Forbes and Davis that are ALL BUST! He got lucky Howell fell to 5th rd, but his ability to pick 1st, 2nd and go out and get free agents have been a complete failure. Leno and other starting line guys need to be replaced completely.

Secondary is a joke led by the mouth breather Fuller that is a lazy cover guy and can't tackle. Dallas just punked all of them!

Big mistake keeping Rivera and his new Offensive Coordinator next season to get alot of BUST picks again.

Five early takeaways on UVa's season thus far

Following three wins in as many games to start the 2023-24 season, we break down a few takeaways about UVa’s team thus far and what we’ve learned about the Wahoos.

Virginia bench leads rally to defeat Tulane 81-59

Virginia women were losing 9-24 late in the first period. Vaughn, Brunelle, and Smith came off the bench and led the scoring with 14, 12, and 10 respectively. Virginia outscored the Green Wave 72 to 35 after the initial deficit. The bench scored 49 of our 81 points. We made 15 of 35 three point shots with Brunelle hitting 4 of 5 and Vaughn 4 of 8. Johnson led the team with 9 of our 20 assists while limiting Tulane team to 9. Virginia forced 19 turnovers while making 12 and had 13 steals.

One more reason to be thankful

I am so happy that Beekman decided to return to Virginia to play basketball. While Dunn led the Cavs with 13 points, Beekman was second on the team with 12, and he led the team with 5 assists and 4 steals. McKneely and Bond each added 8 points. Whether it was Gillen's "tired legs", good defense by WV, or a combination of the two, the shooting percentages was not what they should be. We were 4 of 18 behind the arc and only 1 of 7 in the second half., and just 10 of 16 from the foul line. Once again we trailed our opponents on the boards by 41 to 28, we can credit the win to better defense. Virginia had 7 less turnovers and 5 more steals. Virginia outscored WV 18 to 4 on turnovers.

Scott Stadium Atmosphere

My fiancée always complains that UVA doesn’t do enough at games to pump up the crowd, like they do at Tech or NFL games.

The Duke game is the first time that I’ve seen the stadium lights newest features being used. Going into the Fourth Quarter, the stadium had a light show with the stadium lights flashing blue and orange and the colonnades being lit up. The crowd got into with flashlights on their phones. It felt so fresh and a huge upgrade to the game experience. With that, the new scoreboard, and the new training facility, it feels like UVA is finally giving some focus to football and making it exciting to come to a game.

Now if we can just finish the season strong and beat that hillbilly neighbor, uva might just get some attention going into next year.

Hokies

Our bowl game is Saturday. We must fill the stands with as many Hoo fans as we can. Our kids have been through hell and back since the end of last season, and they are on the cusp of making a positive turn. What greater way to make that turn and set up next season than beat the Hokies and send them back to Blacksburg with a season ENDING loss!!!! Let's be LOUD and let's be PROUD!!!! Go HOOS!!!

Four-star F Khamenia (2025) talks UVa offer, decision timeline

Four-star class of 2025 forward Nikolas Khamenia talked to @HoustonWilson about recently picking up an offer from UVa, why that one stood out to him, and when he’d like to make a college decision.

Preview: Hoos set to face the Badgers tomorrow night in Fort Myers

Knocking on the door

In today's AP poll we are #27 just on the edge of the top 25 (JMU made it into the top 25 just ahead of us) so you have to imagine if we win both games this week with NC A&T and Texas Southern we will make it into the top 25 as there are sure to be losses dropping teams out. Of course at this point in the season doesn't mean anything, but always nice to be in the top 25.

OT: Dino Babers Out at Syracuse

From: https://www.syracuse.com/orangefoot...o-fire-dino-babers-football-coach-report.html

SU’s 41 wins since the start of the 2016 season — Babers’ first — are tied with Georgia Tech for the fewest by an ACC school. Babers’ 20-45 conference record is one game better than Duke for the worst mark over the same span. No ACC school has qualified for fewer bowl games than Syracuse over the past eight seasons.
