ESPN misinformation

two days in a row they have put up a graphic about notre dames halftime deficits and then their margin of victory. UVA has been included on that. Not hard for a company with as many employees as they have to have one guy fact check that we beat notre dame the only time we played. Can only assume that was supposed to be tech, but still they should fix that

My sincere apologies.

I feel bad. We were up ten all first half until I tuned in and got us down to five at the half. I realized I was jinxing us and didn't watch the second half til we were safely ahead with one minute left. Then I tried to watch the very end and durn if we didn't slip to within 3 before I realized I was going to lose it for us. I stopped watching til the game was over.

I take full responsibility and apologize for the game being closer than it should have been. I promise I will not watch tomorrow.

In the latest installment of the CavsCorner Podcast, we look back at the way UVa closed out the regular season, with an emphatic win on Senior Night that was in many ways a love note to John Paul Jones Arena. We also break down the way Malcolm Brogdon won ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and how the margin of victory sort of shocked Wahoo fans. And of course we'll look ahead to this week's ACC Tournament and how things stack up for UVa.

Verizon Center floor

Just got back from the game...did the announcers say anything about the state of the floor?

There were a bunch of spills & turnovers directly related to slipping. Ga Tech and UVa assistants were working the baseline & lane(s) with towels during timeouts. Seemed a bit dangerous.

Floor seemed fine in the earlier games.

Kansas and the disappearing top 25 wins ...

So Kansas started the BigXII-ish tournament with 9 top 25 wins. They are down to 7 and it could shrink to 6 or 5.

Texas Tech lost to TCU yesterday and will not get back in the top 25 of the RPI.

Texas (24) and Baylor (26) play each other today. I don't think a Baylor win would put them both in the top 25, but you never know and it also depends on other results. For grins and giggles, say Texas wins to remain 24 and Baylor drops a few more spots. Well, the winner of that game gets Kansas. I don't know if losing that game could push them out of the top 25, but it's an interesting spot. By winning, Kansas loses three top 25 wins (the two in the regular season plus the tournament win). Now, the BigXII Final only gets them back from 5 to 6.

Our seven are solid because they are so much more firmly in the top 25 (3, 7, 8, 10, 15, 17, and 17). I would love to get two more this weekend.

Who got on the bus to D.C. - R. A. Tobey or M. Tobey?

Let's hope Mike Tobey stayed at home and Reckless Abandonment Tobey went with the team to the Verizon Center. I think I was most disappointed in our inside defense against GaTech last time and how we let Jacobs and Mitchell have their way with us inside. But even if M. Tobey shows up in D.C., our interior defense is a far cry from what it was 2 months ago down in Atlanta and I expect a solid win today. I sure enjoyed watching R.A. Tobey, though!

Chokies v. FL State

Can anyone name a coach that does less with more talent than Fl State's coach? Losing to Va Tech by 7, (final was double digits) has no idea how to counter Tech's driving, has no idea how to use the talent he has and his size advantage outside of offensive rebounding. R-Mays has been essentially non existent, a great player and he can not even get him the ball. he is even worse at utilizing talent than Roy Boy. I know, everyone can talk about all Hamilton's wins in the past 6 years, winning the conference tourney, etc, etc. But he always seems to not totally use all the great athletes he has. TB would kill with the talent they have, if he could keep them eligible at UVA, which would certainly be a question. I hate Va Tech, want them to lose but with Hamilton coaching the players had better do it themselves.
