Depth on the baseball team

The team has played four games, and all but seven players have participated, and three of these are injured. It is not difficult to believe that Casey, Eason, and Sperling would have played if not for their injuries. There are three others pitchers who have not played - Donahue, Sloan, and Wilson. The only position player who has not yet appeared is Weiler. Considering the number of new players that are on the roster and the fact that the vast majority have performed well, this is a good sign for the future.

7 fouls

Ill agree with brogdons assessment of tonite, a C. Regardless, SEVEN total fouls on any team in 40 mins is a joke. Only can happen when mike eades has our game. This game + duke game are two the officials really helped the outcome. And insult to injury is wilkins.

Neutral Courts....

After having watched UVA play several games this year be it at home or away, I believe this team will be just fine come tournament time! Are we playing superlative basketball? No. However we are playing much more like the tough nose Bennett teams we've seen in the past. This team doesn't quit!!!! Even on the road!!!! That's why I think come tournament time, we will be the most battle tested team amongst all the other teams! Give us a neutral court against ANY team and I will tell you I love our chances with a Bennett coached team. I guess what I'm saying is, I really enjoy watching this year's team and I'm not the least bit concerned about our chances come tournament time!!! So enjoy THIS year's team while you can!!!! Go Hoos!

Question for Brad: Double teaming the post

Brad, I know Double Teaming the post is a staple of Bennett's defense, but it seems counter productive when big men can pass out of it to wide open shooters. Doesn't make sense to double team someone like Jekiri to leave open someone like Reed for 3. Would make a lot more sense to just play everyone straight up.

Now if its a dominant big man, then I can see the reason for doing it. Just seems like time and time again we get burned for layups or wide open 3's by double teaming down low.

Any chance you could ask Bennett about this at your next opportunity?

Would like to hear your thoughts on it as well.

Why this team gets me frustrated-

Plenty of season left. We should be ok, but:

Our posts back down when things gets tough. Too many try to finesse the basketball vs. trying to draw contact. Things I like about Reuter in the future is he likes contact.

Gill plays too damn finesse and Tobey is Tobey 7'1" trying to layup the ball vs. dunking.

Transition- How many times do we walk the ball up? Wisconsin last season would push when it was there. Playing slow allows teams to stay in the game.

Defensive rotations- Still a step slow. It doesn't hurt us against teams who are missing from 3, but my fear come tourney time is the right team catches us at the wrong time.

Too much Malcolm watching- He will be ACC player of the year, but we don't get where we should if LP, Gill and one other player on different nights don't show up. The offense gets too 1 on 1 in every loss we have had. When we win the team offense is a beauty to watch.

We either make the Final Four or are done in the round of 32.
