COMMENTS ON COACHING DECISIONS

Just back from the game. First, when you have a future Sunday punter why would you suddenly try to turn him into a rugby kicker rather than having him punt it high (like the 64 yarder out of his own end zone!) and get your coverage down field??? That is like trying turn thoroughbred into a farm horse! Stupid - and it cost us dearly. Second, why do you pass up a first half field goal when your play caller does not know how to call plays in the red zone much less inside the 5? Stupid! You just don't chase points early and it would have put us in position for a winning FG instead of gaming to drive 75 yards in less than 2. Third, they have a kid in X Brown that can motor and make them miss in the open field, See the 46 yarder for a TD. He reminds me of the great Gale Sayers who would give the defender a leg and then take it away - watch the replay of his TD catch and run - he did exactly that! Why does he never get thrown to, or seldom does. When Pace is in there how does he help on the darn bench? Why not put him in the slot and throw to HIM? He is better than any receiver we have either than Fields. Stupid. The coaching decisions cost us this gam,e. As to the idiotic punting decision, that was like a Mike London set of thinking, too cute to work.

Watching Washington vs Baltimore observations: Their secondary can't cover well like our UVA guys have problems with.

After watching the first half and as in many games this year, Washington secondary leave wide receivers wide open, and I mean wide open on 3rd and long. It's infuriating to see opponents that wide open down field with guys on defense standing around in bunches and leaving WRs that much area to roam and have easy tosses.

St-Juste is a GIANT bust. That river boat bozo coach said he picked this guy so high in the draft cause he was tall and could run pretty good. One problem River boat Ron, he can't cover worth a crap. He comes in every year with the Me Angelo Hall technique of playing hard in preseason to make the cut then jogs around during the season leaving his guy so wide open and grabbing getting unnecessary penalties to keep the chains moving for the other team.

This guy is a GIANT bust and needs to go after this season. He has stole a paycheck long enough and thanks to river boat Ron, we have numerous players he picked in the 1st and 2nd RDS that were a complete wash or bust. Forbes and Davis were and are first round bust.

LB Wagner checked off the TE Andrews but the free Safety was caught pedestrian watching instead of sliding over toward the TE running in the End Zone and then he was standing mouth breathing like Fuller used to do when he got burned.

The kicker has been pretty good this year but that 52 yard attempt was ugly; beyond ugly. It looked like he was kicking a dog turd out of a sand box. How are you a kicker and look that awful on a clean kick? I can see it being short but to be a line drive dud means you need to be out kicking more in practice and not on X box.

Side note:

I think Washington's Achille's heel will by UVA's Achille's heel going forward is the secondary can't cover if the QB has throwing time.

OT - What the L in the NBA

I watched the last 5 minutes and the OT of the WNBA game between the Liberty and the Lynx after it became apparent that JMU would easily defeat Coastal Carolina. These teams are supposed to be playing for the WNBA championship, but what I saw closely resembled a pick-up game at the local YMCA. If the rumors are true that Clark is leaving the WNBA to play in Europe, next year the WNBA will revert to half full arenas and diminished television viewership. They will have to hope that Paige Bueckers has half the drawing power of Clark. She is very talented, but the WNBA has not indicated that management or ESPN has any idea how to take advantage of her skills.
If anyone cares, the Lynx won the game.
