Big News for UVa Hoops Transfer Target...

UVa transfer target Malik Thomas was granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA today on waiver appeal. Thomas, who played the last two years at San Francisco, is one of the top guards remaining in the portal and was All-WCC last season. UVa has been linked here for about a month or so, while the waiver process played out. They're the favorite, and hopefully this one will get over the line soon. Would be a game changer for UVa.

Ford drives Virginia to a 8 - 6 sweep over Miami

Ford was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 1 double and 4 RBI. Virginia scored 2 runs in the first inning, 2 in the third, and 3 in the fourth to take a 7 -0 lead. Valincius pitched 6 shut out innings before the wheels fell off in the top of the seventh; he allowed 3 runs and was replaced by Koenen who gave up 2 runs which shortened the lead to 7 - 5. The second of Ford's home runs in the bottom of the 7th increased the lead to 8 - 5. Markus gave up 1 run on 2 hits in the 9th before Buchanan, Moore, and Lanzendorfer each retired the one batter that they faced to end the game.

Virginia cleared the dugout in 19 - 1 romp over Towson

The Virginia coaches thought the game was over on the mercy rule when they led 11 - 1 after 6 and 1/2 innings, but the Towson staff wanted to play on. Apparently the Towson pitchers were not consulted.
Virginia scored 6 more runs on just 1 hit in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Towson staff hit 4 straight Hoos. Virginia added 2 more runs in the 8th to reach the final score.
Virginia had 16 different players come to the plate and used 5 pitchers. Godbout led the offense with 2 home runs and 1 double good for 4 RBI in 3 turns at bat. Ference had 2 home runs for 3 RBI in 3 at bats.
The Virginia pitchers allowed 7 hits and no earned runs. Blanco got the win by allowing just 1 single in three innings on the mound.

Looks like Virginia Women’s Basketball Adds Transfers Tabitha Amanze, 6'4" Nigerian, Danelle Arigbabu 6'4" German!

Great news for the ladies to Add two more 6'4" players with Amanze transferring from Princeton and Argbabu transferring from West Virginia.

Watching the German Girl Argbabu she is a legit in the blocks defender around the basket.

Just watched the Nigerian Girl Amanze and she clearly attacks the rim with defenders on her and can score inside.

This could be a really fun season for the ladies! If they can gel, I'm predicting an additional 5 games or more than last season's results.

I was checking in Down Under and saw this funny titled story in Sports of Brisbane Bullets, signing "KIWI CAVALIER" Taine Murray.

I saw this story this morning as I was going thru some of Australia Sports news out of Sydney and Brisbane where I visit the most in Australia.

They had this article on Brisbane Bullets signing Taine Murray to a 2 year contract to play and they had him as the former "Kiwi Cavalier".LOL. Really like the photo of Taine wearing UVA jersey in live action driving to the basket.

I really wish him well and thought New Zealand would have signed him but Brisbane in Australia is a better selection between the two pro leagues. Was hoping he got on in Sydney but I do a few weeks layover in Brisbane and the Gold Coast so I'm hoping to see him in a game when I fly in.

Here's the article:

Amazing how many games in Baseball we have lost this year in the last inning or extra innings by walk off runs due to pitching short comings.

This year has been tough in the bullpen to find a reliable closer. This has to be one of the worse years I've seen in a long time under BOC.

The number of games that we have blown in the closing innings and in extra innings has been hard to watch. Especially 2 outs and our pitchers serving up one down the middle to be knocked out of the park for the walk off winning run.

At my count we have blown 5 games we should have won: Michigan (11 innings), Oklahoma (12 innings), NC State (9 innings), Pitt (90 innings, GT (10 innings)

All 5 games were walk off 1 run loses.

In Fairness it was not all pitching issues. We left so many runners on base to have one out and we get up and hit a cupcake right to Second base to make the tag and throw out First for close out double plays.

We don't have the same aggressive base runners either this year. There has been some nice hits that should have gotten runners further but you had guys pulling up and hesitating and guys unwilling to steal when the Catcher mishandles the ball. So many this season I haven't seen in other years.

Too many people dancing around; do I go, do I stay that cost us lots of runs this season.

So many games I've caught myself yelling "OMG", RUN! like they were little league players when guys jog and pull up to second from first and the outfielder is still trying to fumble around in the outfield with a mishandled ball, deep down the first base line.
